🌍 Local Access Centre (LAC) – Our Projects
At the Local Access Centre (LAC), we are committed to creating lasting change through practical, community-driven projects. Our work focuses on providing essential support, promoting equality, and helping individuals and families build brighter futures. Each project is designed with compassion, inclusivity, and long-term impact in mind.
Our Projects
Financial Hardship Support
We provide vital assistance to individuals and families experiencing financial challenges. Our support includes access to food packs, emergency aid, and financial literacy programmes to help people manage money more effectively. By reducing stress and meeting urgent needs, we empower people to focus on rebuilding stability and independence.
Work-Related Learning & Employability
We run training and employment programs in partnership with local SMEs. These programmes equip people with the practical skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to enter the job market. From CV building and interview coaching to hands-on workshops, our aim is to open doors to new opportunities and create pathways to long-term employment.
Disability & Elderly Support (DIAS)
Our Disability Information Access Services (DIAS) project provides tailored support for disabled individuals, elderly residents, and their families. We deliver essential services such as mobility assistance, care packages, and companionship visits. Beyond practical help, our outreach combats loneliness and ensures everyone feels valued, respected, and included in community life.
Women, Families & Communities
We believe in building inclusive communities by uplifting women and families. Our women’s project creates safe spaces for skill development, social connection, and empowerment. We also extend targeted support to families and marginalised communities, offering workshops, wellbeing sessions, and growth opportunities that strengthen resilience, unity, and confidence.
Food & Philanthropy (Zaika Partnership)
Through our partnership with LAC-Zaika CiC, we deliver food philanthropy projects to combat hunger and poverty. Working with Neighbourly, M&S, ALDI UK, Lidl GB, and other partners, we provide nutritious meals and groceries to those in need.
Homeless
We provide freshly prepared meals, essential groceries, and hygiene packs to support people living on the streets. Our aim is to give comfort, dignity, and hope while reducing the struggles of homelessness.
Families with Low Incomes
Rising costs make it hard for many families to afford nutritious food. We step in with meal support, grocery packs, and food donations that help parents focus on stability and their children’s wellbeing.
Refugees & Migrants
Many new arrivals face food insecurity during resettlement. We support them with balanced meals, groceries, and guidance so they can feel welcome, rebuild their lives, and adapt to their new communities.
Isolated & Vulnerable Individuals
We deliver food, groceries, and care packages to people who are elderly, disabled, or socially isolated. Along with nourishment, our outreach reduces loneliness and builds a sense of belonging.

Events & Community Work
We actively host and support events that bring people together and provide meaningful impact. Our initiatives have included:
Waste Not, Want Not: Providing meals to the homeless.
Hospital & Food Bank Donations: Delivering essential packs to frontline workers and communities.
COVID-19 Response: Supplying food, groceries, and support during the pandemic.
These projects reflect our mission of standing with the community in times of need.
Global & Local Reach
Since its founding roots in 1986, LAC has grown from a local initiative into a wider-reaching organisation. While our primary focus is serving UK communities, our partnerships and outreach extend globally, inspired by the principle:
“Charity sees the need, not the cause.”
